This extremely wild and remote region of north-central Nepal has often been closed to foreigners
for long periods because of banditry and other problems. It has only one major peak, Gauri Shankar,
but a wealth of smaller and beautiful mountains, many unclimbed and even un-named. The only way
out of Rolwaling to east is the 19,000-foot (5900m) Tesi Lapcha pass, in stunning, high-
mountain surroundings. 35mm and 5x4" originals.
